Piotr Majdak was born in Poland, in 1974. 2002, he received an M.Sc. in audio engineering from the University of Technology and the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Austria, where in 2008, he also received PhD degree in Science.

Piotr Majdak works within the research group “Psychoacoustics and Experimental Audiology” of the Acoustics Research Institute (ARI), part of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW). Since 2015, he is ARI's deputy director. His projects involve spatial hearing, binaural sound processing, acoustic-software development, and listening with hearing-assisted devices like cochlear implants.

Piotr Majdak is author or co-author of over 50 international publications, lecturer at various universities, member of Acoustic Society of America (ASA), the Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO), the German (DEGA) and the Austrian Acoustic Association (AAA) as well as the president of the Austrian section of the Audio Engineering Society (AES).
