Dan Mortensen has owned and operated Dansound Inc., a sound reinforcement company, for 45 years in Seattle, WA. He specializes in the naturalistic reproduction of acoustic music, and for the last 37 years has primarily relied on various products from Meyer Sound to do so.

He has been married for 35 years and has two self-supporting adult children.

A long-time AES member and now Life Member, he has been eight-time Chair of the Pacific Northwest Section as well as Vice-Chair, Treasurer, or Committee member continuously over the last 28 years. This year he did not run for re-election, and so is now a free spirit.

This year is his first time as Chair of the Historical Track, and he's been enjoying that immensely.

For the last five years has been learning how to edit video and has a small but growing variety of audio-related videos on his YouTube channel DansoundSeattle, including several relevant to these sessions.

And for the last six years, he has been the Spark Plug for the Friends of the 30th St. Studio, which is an organization he founded after being friends with and learning more about the incredible career of Frank Laico. Fo30St's purpose is to remember and explore the history of CBS Records' wonderful studio where literally thousands of classic songs and albums were recorded, as well as the work and history of a very large number of people who worked there whose achievements we treasure today.

There is an ongoing discussion about the studio at http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/history-of-cbs-records-30th-street-studio-nyc-many-pictures.388186/ , where we continually learn more.
