Dave Rat, founder and president of Rat Sound Systems, Camarillo CA, has over 40 years of experience in the live sound industry. Rat Sound is widely known for providing sound for Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson and the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Rat also has a sales, installations and manufacturing division. Rat developed the SoundTools line of testers, cables and tools for the audio pro which include the Rat Sniffer and Sender, NL4 tester, Cat Box and more.
In addition to running the company and his audio designs, Dave has toured as the front-of-house engineer for bands including The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink 182, Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine. His MicroWedge loudspeaker designs, licensed to EAW, have received worldwide acceptance and are used by many artist, venues and sound companies. Rat has spoken at live sound seminars and trade shows across the world including AES, and is a regular contributor to many pro audio media including Live Sound Magazine and Pro Sound Web.
