Sarah Register is a mastering engineer and professional musician with over 20 years experience uniting sound, vision, compassion and expression. The body of work she's had a hand in is broad, from genre smashing iconic artists (Lee "Scratch" Perry, Lou Reed, Garbage, Depeche Mode) to radio friendly anthemic pop (Ariana Grande, Sia) to cult indie stars like Protomartyr, Andrew WK ,The Shins, Entrance, Trans Am, Lower Dens, Buke & Gase, U.S. Girls, Aaron Roche, Katie Von Schleicher & many more.
In addition to her long CV as a mastering engineer, Register has also found artistic and professional success in various performance outlets, including Talk Normal, her avant/pop duo formed in Brooklyn in 2007. During her time in Talk Normal, she played guitar, bass & shared vocal duties in the band, co-writing dozens of critically acclaimed songs and touring with artists including Wire, Xiu Xiu, Future Islands, Zola Jesus, Tune-Yards & U.S. Girls, plus special performances with Sonic Youth, Ut, Lydia Lunch, Boss Hog and more. In others’ projects, Register has performed at Coachella & Bonnaroo (EMA) & Miami’s Art Basel (Naama Tsabar “Composition 18”). Her new band War Bubble started playing NYC shows this fall.
Blending her mastery of studio techniques, much experience on both sides of the glass, & an easy going, approachable work style, Register has established herself as an empathetic conduit between human and machine. Simply put, she knows how to translate what artists need, while remaining open, emotionally available and sonically expansive.
