Computer Programmer (1968), System Analist for Data Processing until 1973. Professor at Univ Vale do Rio dos Sinos (73/75). Professor at UFRGS since 1975, and presently a full Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department. Co-founder of two University data processing centers. Co-founder of three graduate programs: Industrial Informatics at Federal Univ. of ParanĂ¡, Electrical Engineering at Engineering School of UFRGS and Graduate Program on Microelectronics as a multidisciplinary program at UFRGS. Founder of the Microelectronics Group at UFRGS (1981). Co-founder of Brazilian Microelectronics Society (SBMicro) and past vice-president and President of the society. Member of the Board of Administration of National Center of Microelectronics (CEITEC). Has more than a hundred scientific publications. He is currently director of Ph.D. Thesis and Master Dissertations of three Graduate Programs. He coordinated several research projects on microelectronics, digital signal processing and audio & video and image processing, including the coordination of the Brazilian Network for the implementation of software and hardware for the source signal processing for the Brazilian Digital TV System (audio and video codecs).
