Primary Affiliation: Vice President WO Streaming, WideOrbit, Inc. - Seattle, WA, USA

As a proven business-builder, board member, and senior executive, Rob is highly regarded for his ability to "see the chessboard" and understand how to position/structure technology companies properly to achieve their maximum potential in today's competitive landscape. Whether the challenge involves helping companies raise critical growth capital, recruit top board members, optimize their product portfolio, or build partnerships with top global customers, Rob has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead the charge and get the job done.

To date, he has held senior leadership roles up to the CEO level in seven different organizations within the software, telecommunications, and digital media sectors—ranging from Fortune 500 firms to numerous startups and mid-tier growth companies. In each role, he has been an instrumental force in building the winning teams, cultures, and products that have led to breakthrough market success both in terms of market share, as well as the realization of compelling shareholder returns and highly profitable exit opportunities.

Most recently, as CEO of Abacast, Rob led a comprehensive turnaround effort that successfully positioned the company for acquisition by WideOrbit in 2014—leading to his subsequent appointment as VP of Streaming for the combined 600-employee organization. Prior to this role, he served as SVP of Business Development and Strategy at Nine Systems, a content development network acquired by Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ:AKAM) and as SVP of Business Development for Imagine Communications, during which time he was presented with the "Streaming Media All-Star Award" by Streaming Media magazine.

Additionally, Rob spent an eight-year tenure as Group Manager of Business Development for Microsoft's Digital Media Division, where he was responsible for the global advancement of Windows Media Technologies during a critically-competitive time within the digital content market. During this time he served as the primary architect and deal-maker behind the negotiation of partnerships with over 150 major ecosystem partners including top broadcasters (ABC, CBS, NBC); sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA); telecomm carriers (SBC, Telus, Chunghwa Telecom, France Telecom); content distributors (Time Warner, Comcast, DirecTV); and original content producers (HBO, Showtime).

Prior to Microsoft, Rob honed his business development and leadership talents through a series of progressive managerial roles with Metromedia/WorldCom and Cortex Medical Management Systems—and has also operated his own independent management consulting firm, WorksMachine, through which he's served in numerous interim executive roles and provided senior-level strategic advice to clients such as Fluke Capital Management, Sterling Commerce (an IBM Company), RIPL, Livecast.com, and Slingshot Communications.
Rob's educational credentials include a BA of Economics from Indiana University—and outside of his professional activities, Rob can be found spending quality time with his wife and two teenage children, as well as biking, skiing, enjoying the outdoors, and working his way through a never-ending stack of history and science books.
