Alexander Voishvillo was born and grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia where he graduated from the State University of Telecommunications. From 1977 to 1995 he worked at Popov Research Center for Radio and Acoustics where he designed loudspeaker systems and studio monitors and did research on loudspeakers. He authored and co-authored publications on transducers and loudspeaker systems including an engineering book on loudspeaker theory and design published in Russia in 1985. In his PhD work he developed advanced adaptive method of global optimization for design of loudspeaker crossover networks. In 1995 Alexander and his family moved to Simi Valley, California at invitation of Eugene Czerwinski, CEO and owner of Cerwin-Vega. At Cerwin-Vega he led an R&D group and designed new transducers and systems, researched nonlinearity in sound systems, and investigated advanced methods to measure nonlinearity in audio equipment. Since 2004 Alexander works for JBL Professional. Currently he holds a position of Senior Manager, Transducer Engineering and Acoustic Research. He authored and co-authored US patents on new transducers; he authored and co-authored publications in JAES and presented papers at AES, ASA, and ALMA conventions, meetings, and simposia. He participates in the AES Standard Committee's working group on loudspeaker modeling and measurement, and in the AES Technical Committee on loudspeakers. He has been reviewing manuscripts for the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society for over 10 years. In 2008 he was awarded AES Fellowship for his research work in horn drivers and in assessment of nonlinearity in audio equipment. In 2012 he received "The Titanium Driver Award for Technical Contribution" from ALMA International.
