W18 - AUDIO FOR GAMES: DIALOG RECORDING, WORKFLOW, AND ASSET MANAGEMENT
Chair: Steve Martz, THX Panelists: Jory Prum, studio.jory.org
Abstract: It is not unheard-of to have 9,000 lines of dialog (or other audio assets) in a game. Understanding how to prepare, organize, and store these assets highlights a principle difference between game audio and other media. This workshop takes a step-by-step look at the monumental task of the recording, editing, and organization process, as well as
strategies to keep it under control. Methods will be presented for script management, session set-up, session flow, actor interfacing, and asset organization and protection, as well as a comparison to similar techniques in other types of media production.
