This session includes an in-depth description of the signal flow through the Pro Tools audio engine and takes the user through the system step-by-step. Dynamic range, precision, and math used in the mixer are explained in great detail. This program is designed for those interested in gaining a clear understanding of mixing and summing inside Pro Tools.
Clocking, Jitter, and the Digidesign 192 I/O Interface
This session includes an overview of clocking and jitter as it pertains to digital audio interfaces. An in-depth description of the internal routing of clock signals in the 192 will help users gain a better understanding of how these interfaces are synchronized and the effects of various clocking schemes have with regard to jitter.
Pro Tools Training Sessions
Sit in on the Pro Tools Go Mobile training tour during its stop at AES. These one-hour training sessions are based on the acclaimed Digidesign Pro Tools 101 Courseware and give you hands-on experience with the new features in Pro Tools 7 software. The Pro Tools Go Mobile training room will contain individual Pro Tools training stations featuring the Digidesign Mbox 2, M-Audio Trigger Finger, along with Dell Precision M65 mobile workstations that feature dual-core Intel processors and run on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. The postproduction training session will follow the processes of adding music, editing dialog, laying sound effects, and mixing techniques using Pro Tools LE with DV Toolkit 2.
Friday, October 6, 3:30 pm — 4:30 pm
ROHDE & SCHWARTZ, INC
Presenter: Mike Wolfe
Abstract: Audio Measurements
Audio equipment with sigma-delta converters and class D switch-mode amplifiers can present problems to audio analyzers. A practical solution to strong above-audio band frequency components using a controlled bandwidth analyzer and a simple RC filter are demonstrated. Analog / I2S performance measurements are explained and demonstrated.
