Abstract
Internet audio streaming and on-demand audio playback have become major methods of media delivery, creating challenges related to loudness consistency, audio quality, and listener experience. This AES Technical Document provides recommendations for establishing and implementing effective distribution loudness for streaming and on-demand audio content. It addresses loudness normalization, dynamic range management, metadata, peak control, and playback considerations to promote consistent listening experiences across current and future distribution platforms. It is intended primarily for distributors of Internet audio streams and on-demand audio files, while also serving as a resource for content creators and audio professionals.
