The AES recognizes and honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of audio in engineering, technology, service, and the arts through its Awards Program.

In 1971, Georg Neumann was presented with the AES Honorary Membership Award for more than forty years of basic research in the field of condenser microphones and for his many contributions to the technology of disc recording and cutterhead design.
