Julius Dobos is an award-winning, platinum-album European-American composer, music producer, mixing engineer and sound designer, best known for his eleven electronic and electro-orchestral album releases, film scores, and music produced for motion pictures and television programs. His credits include Don't Mess with the Zohan, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, The Zookeeper and television programs such as 127 episodes of the DragonBall Z series on Cartoon Network, NCIS, advertisements for major brands, as well as studio engineering work with Grammy-winning artists Martha Sebestyen and Erykah Badu. His music produced for installations and events, such as the 2019 Human Intelligence Control show at SIGGRAPH, have featured interactive audio experiences with the aim to promote the importance of sonic expression in audiovisual media and active listening.
With a composition & performance background and an electrical engineering degree, Dobos founded The Creative Shop, his audio production company and studio in his early twenties, with which he has recorded and mixed records in a diverse range of genres during the past 25 years, working as a freelance mixing engineer and producer in Budapest, Dallas, and in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2010, he launched and ran music-mastering.com, one of the very first non-automated online music mastering services.
His personal project, forgotten future, a psybient, epic-ambient musical concept built on cutting-edge sound synthesis, became a top seller in its genre in 2016 and continues to draw audiences to live performances and to its interactive online platform. Dobos beta-tests and creates presets for audio plugins, and gives talks in music technology and production culture topics. As a Distinguished Professor at Cogswell University of Silicon Valley since 2012, he teaches a range of audio courses, directs audiovisual media production projects and builds future-proof concepts for education.
