Yamaha Covers Every Pro Audio Application at AES 2019

BUENA PARK, Calif. (September 18, 2019) ― Yamaha is highlighting its newest professional audio and live sound products, as well as the latest audio workstation tools from Steinberg Media Technologies and loudspeakers from NEXO, both Yamaha companies, at next month’s Audio Engineering Society (AES) convention. The company’s AES theme of “Creativity, Connection and Clarity” illustrates how Yamaha is uniquely equipped to support the full audio workflow from input to mixing to final output.

Attendees will experience demonstrations of the RIVAGE, CL and TF series digital mixing consoles, the newly released STAGEPAS 1K portable PA system, the new point source NEXO P12/L15 loudspeaker system, DZR loudspeakers with expanded Dante audio networking connectivity and the latest version of Steinberg’s Dorico 3 professional scoring software, among other hardware and software technologies designed for sound engineering and audio production.
Firmware update V4.0 for Yamaha TF Series Digital Mixers adds enhanced control and versatility through a Selected Channel View providing access to main parameters for selected input channels in a single display. A new scene fade time function for scene management is useful for engineers mixing in theatrical applications.
Support for Yamaha DZR-D and DXS-XLF-D Series speakers is added with speaker amp mute control directly from the mixer display. V4.0 expands the selection of QuickPro Presets™ for microphones, in-ear monitors and speakers and the TF StageMix iPad app allows control of playback and recording through a connected USB storage device.
Steinberg recently announced the highly anticipated latest version of its professional scoring software, Dorico 3. Every feature in the new version is designed to help musicians spend less time in front of their computers and more time making music. The latest iterations of Dorico Pro 3 and Dorico Elements 3 introduce unique features for automatically producing a condensed conductor’s score (Pro only), support for tablature and guitar notation and comprehensive support for harp pedal changes. Customizable playback templates make Dorico easily configurable for use with virtual instruments and allow users to recall those settings in future projects.
Also planned for the Yamaha AES exhibit are new audio interface products and the newest WaveLab mastering, editing and refinement tools.
The Yamaha STAGEPAS 1K is an all-in-one portable PA system enabling performers to quickly transform any location into a stage. The system is driven by a high-frequency array speaker packed with 10 small-diameter 1.5-inch drivers that provide professional-level accuracy and clarity. A 1000 W Class-D amplifier gives the system a significant upgrade in power. A new 12-inch subwoofer houses the sizable speaker and improves portability with its streamlined construction and reduced weight.
Unique to the STAGEPAS 1K system is a five-channel digital mixer. Located in the back of the subwoofer, it features three channels of mono microphone/line inputs and stereo inputs, with two of the mono input channels fitted with Hi-Z connectivity for direct input of acoustic-electric guitars and other instruments. The free STAGEPAS Editor iOS/Android app lets users adjust volume and EQ parameters remotely.
“The audio workflow expands far beyond the recording studio or the performance stage,” said Glenn Booth, director of marketing, Professional Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Recording artists and composers need to creatively collaborate with peers regardless of location to deliver their best work, without having to be technology experts. Mixing engineers, broadcasters and producers are faced with increasingly complex production requirements and applications, adding effects and digitally routing music and audio to more points than ever. Installed sound systems need to accommodate multi-use venues without needing to be reconfigured for different types of events. Our exhibit at AES shows how Yamaha is addressing each of these challenges and customer needs.”
