The Technical Committee on Signal Processing strives to be aware of any issues related to signal processing that are or will be vital to the activities of the AES, especially other technical committees extensively using DSP techniques, and to communicate them to the membership and the audio community by all means available.

The Committee serves the needs of all AES members through education and information by participating in conferences and conventions, holding workshops, and publishing papers about signal processing as it relates to audio. The international committee members, possessing expertise in the field, monitor advances in audio signal processing technology and its applications, and present the collected knowledge themselves, arrange for its presentation by other experts, assist convention and conference papers chairs in the determination of appropriate sessions or other demonstrations of the technology, and/or make recommendations to the Standards Committees for further exploration. In addition, the Committee serves to recognize and acknowledge items of historical significance in the field of audio signal processing.
