Meet Shawn Everett, one of our honorable judges of Category 3: Modern Studio Recording of the Student Recording Competition at AES138 in Warsaw.

Shawn Everett was born and raised in Bragg Creek, Alberta. After graduating from high school, he was accepted as a Work-Study participant in the Audio program in Music & Sound at The Banff Centre. Everett continued his studies as a regular Audio engineer between 2001 and 2005, gaining the opportunity to interact with various Grammy artists, faculty, and staff from academia and industry. He has since returned to The Banff Centre as regular faculty in the Audio program that attracts musicians and engineers from around the world.

Everett relocated to Los Angeles in 2006 and began engineering for producer Tony Berg, collaborating as an engineer and mixer with many great artists including Bruce Hornsby, k.d. lang, Bob Dylan, Jakob Dylan, Ozomatli, Eddie Vedder, Natalie Cole and Randy Newman. Today,  Everett is a highly respected and sought after producer/engineer, with recent credits including albums for Weezer, The Belle Brigade and The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. A true virtuoso of recording technology, Everett’s cutting edge production style constantly challenges the expectations of artists, producers and listeners alike.
