Mariana Lopez

Dr Mariana Lopez is Lecturer in Sound Production and Post Production in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television at the University of York, a post she has held since 2016. She is also  the former UK Section Chair of the Audio Engineering Society.
Mariana has a background in music and sound design, having been awarded the BA degree in Arts with specialisation in Music and the MA degree in Post Production with specialisation in Sound Design.  Her MA dissertation focused on exploring the creation of a new format of sonic art entitled ‘audio film’ that may be considered as an alternative to Audio Description.
In 2013 she completed her PhD at the University of York on the importance of virtual acoustics to further our understanding of the York Mystery Plays. Mariana then joined CoDE as a Senior Research Fellow, where she worked on developing research projects in the fields of sound and acoustics.
