Bożena Kostek

BOZENA KOSTEK holds Professorship at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland. She is a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and  a Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society. Her main scientific interests are psychoacoustics, music information retrieval, multimedia, cognitive and behavioral processing, as well as applications of machine learning methods to the mentioned domains. Prof. Kostek has presented more than 600 scientific papers in journals and at international conferences. She also published three books related to multimedia applications. She is the recipient of many prestigious awards for research, including those of the Prime Minister of Poland (twice), Ministry of Science and the Polish Academy of Sciences. She supervised 16 Doctoral theses and more than 260 Master theses and engineering projects. She led a number of applied research projects sponsored by the Polish Ministry of Science and Education, and took an active part in the 6th and 7th FP European Projects, some of them carried out in cooperation with companies business environment institutions. In 2003-2007 she was appointed to serve as the AES Vice President for Central Europe Region (2003-2007), from 2007-2009 as the AES Governor and in 2009-2011 she was once again elected as the AES Vice President for Central Europe Region. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Audio Eng. Soc.
