Assigned to: SC-02-08, Initiated: 2004-09-11
Intent: Standard, Target: 2007
Current goal: Sec formatted PWD, Goal date: 2009-02

The value of this project was discussed. It was felt that the resource needed to progress it was not adequately balanced by the likely uptake in industry. It is proposed to retire this project.

AES-X188: Screen-less navigation for high-resolution audio on Blu-ray Discs
Assigned to: SC-02-08, Initiated: 2009-08-10
Intent: Standard, Target: 2010
Current goal: Sec formatted PWD, Goal date: 2009-12

This new project was discussed. It was suggested that the initial draft appeared more as a recommended practice than a standard. The status of the primary reference document - the Blu-ray disc specification itself - was discussed. It was understood that programmers able to implement this draft standard would normally have access to the reference document in order to provide Blu-ray disc mastering facilities in the first place. It was also pointed out that people without access to the reference document might find it hard to understand the text of the proposed AES document. Secretariat to format the draft in order to clarify such outstanding issues.
