Report of the SC-04-01 Working Group on Acoustics and Sound Source Modeling, of the SC-04 Subcommittee on Acoustics meeting, held in conjunction with the AES 124th Convention in Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2008-05-17

The meeting was convened by vice-chair W. Ahnert.

The agenda, and the report of the previous meeting, held in New York 2006-10-05, were accepted as written.

AES20-R: Review of AES20-1996 (r2007): AES recommended practice for professional audio - Subjective evaluation of loudspeakers
Project scope: The recommendations of this document apply to the subjective evaluation of sound reproduction of loudspeakers in domestic listening environments and in professional environments of similar acoustics. The recommendations apply most directly to user-installed free-standing and in-wall loudspeakers.

AES20-1996 (r2007) was reaffirmed 2008-02-19. No further action was requested or required

AES-X081: Liaison with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) SC 43-2 WG25
Project scope: to formalize the working relationship between AESSC SC-04-02 and ISO SC 43-2 WG25

AES-X083: Loudspeaker Polar Radiation Measurements
Project scope: to specify unified loudspeaker far-field polar radiation measurement practice to provide data suitable for room acoustic modeling programs.

In a productive atmosphere the main issues contributed by working group members including B-I Dalenbeck, have been discussed and proposals have been made for corrections of the latest draft.

A revised secretariat draft will be posted as soon as possible

There were no other liaison issues.

New projects

At the last meeting in New York, a new proposal has been made by R. Sauro to develop section 2 of AES-4id. The working group still awaits a Project Initiation Request.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the AES 125th Convention in San Francisco, CA., US., 2008-10.
