The agenda and the report of the previous meeting, held in Vienna, 2007-05-06, were approved as written.

Open projects

AES42-R Review of AES42-2006 Digital Interface for Microphones
C. Langen, the leader of SC-04-04-D, reported on the meeting of the task group held on 2007-10-05. He reported that it had been agreed to eliminate any specific reference to the connector to be used for the digital microphone interface, indicating instead that whatever connector was current for AES3 be used. The secretary recommended that this be reported to SC-05-02.

AES42-R is scheduled for review in 2011 at the latest, but the next revision may occur sooner than that.

Development projects

AES-X085 Detailed Professional Microphone Specifications
Discussion continued on the results of the noise measurement round-robin test. AEA was added to the list of participants, to receive the test article after Soundelux. The mailing order previously posted by Juergen Breitlow of Neumann was noted.

The next real issue to resolve is the geometry of a common-denominator sound source for measurement of practical directional microphones (not close-talking, not free-field). Chair D. Josephson agreed to draft a "straw-man" proposal for an AES recommended practice by 2007-12.

AES-X093 Recommendations for Revisions of IEC 61938 Clause 7
A new writing group consisting of D. Satz, R. Rayburn, T. Rollow, Josephson and J. Green was formed and will review the previous work of this WG in regard to modifications of the phantom power standard, with a goal of a committee report by the end of 2007.

AES-X160, Powering and analog interface for constant-current line drive (CCLD) transducers
The chair reported on interest from other AES members on extending the CCLD powering standard to their products, and will produce a report by the end of 2007.
