Open Projects

AES48-2005: Review of AES48-2005 Shields of connectors in audio equipment containing active circuitry
This standard will come up for review in 2010.

A question was raised by S. Macatee regarding what would be allowed in regards to a "bug" or logo that could be placed on equipment and/or data sheets that would assert compliance with AES48 by the manufacturer. The topic is to be reviewed by M. Yonge and R. Furness.

Development Projects

AES-X27 Field Test Methods for Measuring Electromagnetic Interference
The Chair is in discussion with interested parties to progress this project appropriately.

There was discussion about a specification for the use of an adapted cell-phone power-vs-distance test along with details on Nextel phones used for testing. This subject will be considered by the newly formed TC-EMC.

AES-X125 Input filtering for electromagnetic compatibility
D. Birt to be contacted by Secretariat to get permission to use the document on the document site that is from him. [Permission was subsequently received.]

AES-X147A Connection of cable shields within connectors attached to balanced audio cables
Detailed changes were discussed. Revisions will be forwarded by J. Brown to M. Yonge. Secretariat will then prepare a further formatted PWD for review by the WG with the intent to move to PCFC thereafter.

AES-X147B Shielding of balanced audio wiring within passive connector panels and passive mic splitters
Detailed changes were discussed. Revisions will be forwarded by Brown to Yonge. Secretariat will then prepare a further formatted PWD for review by the WG with the intent to move to PCFC thereafter.

AES-X147C Shields of microphone level outputs of active equipment other than microphones
Detailed changes were discussed. Revisions will be forwarded by Brown to Yonge. Secretariat will then prepare a further formatted PWD for review by the WG with the intent to move to PCFC thereafter.
