Open projects

AES-R3-R: Review of AES-R3-2001: Project report: Compatibility of tip-ring-sleeve connectors conforming to diffferent standards
Content to be folded into X113, report to be retired after X113 is published.

AES14-R: Review of AES14-1992 (r1998): AES Standard for professional audio equipment - Application of connectors, part 1, XLR-type polarity and gender
No action requested or required. Secretariat to add editorial reference to IEC 61076-2-103 at next printing.

AES26-R: Review of AES26-2001: AES Standard for professional audio - Conservation of the polarity of audio signals
No action requested or required.

No action requested or required.

Development [projects

AES-X011: Fiber-Optic Audio Connections: Connectors and Cables Being Used and Considered for Audio
R. Ajemian to write draft to cover the single case of Graded-Index (sometimes known as multi-mode) fiber of 62.5/125 m terminated in an LC connector and color-coded yellow.

AES-X105: Modified XLR-3 Connector for Digital Audio
To become part of AES3. Secretariat to post dimensioned drawings to working group download site as supplied by Neutrik. M. Natter to write text. Three versions of connector to be identified: "A" analog (current XL-type connector); "C" compatible connector for applications where either analog and digital signals may be present; "D" digital.

AES-X113: Universal female phone jack
Contents of AES-R3-2001 to be folded into AES-X113. A. Eckhart to update annex A to include EIA version and new figures. Annex C to become list of model numbers with no drawings. J. Schmidt will provide tutorial text.

AES-X123: XL Connectors to Improve Electromagnetic Compatibility
We expect two outputs from this project. The first is the specification of circumferential connections between the shells of XL-type connectors. The second is the specification of filtering for free and chassis XL-type connectors.

Natter to provide drawings of a proposed circumferential contact for the female XL-type connector. He will also investigate if the proposed circumferential contact will work with any male XL-type connector that falls within the IEC Standard dimensions, or if tighter tolerance is required for reliable connection. The male connector must have a suitable conductive surface in a band on the inside of the shell.

J. Woodgate had previously agreed to prepare a draft of the filtering document and this was awaited.

AES-X130: Data Connector in a XL Connector Shell
Secretariat to simplify figures based on markups from Natter.
