SC-04-01 meeting report, New York, Oct 2005

Report of the SC-04-01 Working Group on Acoustics and Sound Source Modeling, of the SC-04 Subcommittee on Acoustics meeting, held in conjunction with the AES 119th Convention in New York, USA, 2005-10-07

The meeting was convened by vice-chair W. Ahnert.

The agenda and the report of the previous meeting, 2005-05-28, were accepted as written.

Open projects

AES-4id-R: Review of AES-4id-2001: AES information document for room acoustics and sound reinforcement systems- Characterization and measurement of surface scattering uniformity
No action was requested or required. There may be an opportunity to revise this document after AES-X83 is released.

Development projects

AES-X081: Liaison with International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) SC 43-2 WG25
This is temporarily transferred to our group and will be rearranged by the Standards Manager

AES-X83 Loudspeaker Polar Radiation Measurements Suitable for Room Acoustics
The latest draft X83-PWD-WABO-050818.pdf was reviewed in detail.

Here a last discussion has been done item by item. All changes and corrections are added.

It is imperative that this Standard should be completely compatible with AES2-R where work is continuing.

AES-X83 will be a subset of AES2 as pertains to room acoustic modelling programs. Examples of required compatibility are data file structure and definition of centre of rotation and of cabinet reference point. This last updated draft will be posted on the FTP not later October 31st should be discussed for approval within 14 days after publishing. Afterwards the standard draft should be ready for publishing.

Liaisons

Continue working closely with AES2-R to be certain of compatibility.
