Open Projects

AES27-R: Review of AES27-1996 (r2002): AES recommended practice for forensic purposes - Managing recorded audio materials intended for examination
A long discussion took place on this document. It was generally underlined by the group, that the document has been valuable in use so far. It was discussed how future revisions could include digital media. However, R. Chalmers (AESSC Chair) pointed out, that the vast majority of this document nevertheless is outside the scope of the AES standardization work, which should exclusively deal with technical topics. In conclusion of the discussion W. Dooley was appointed to lead the work of a task group in order to produce a PTD to be presented at the working group meeting planned for the New York Convention in October 2005. Dooley accepted this but mentioned that he would not start up this work until his work regarding AES-X135 was finished.

The new Forensic Technical Committee has been invited to continue the discussion on topics like this. A technical committee may issue informative documents and recommendations which, while not standards, to some extent may act as a reference for the work within a specific field of interest.

AES43-R: Review of AES43-2000: AES standard for forensic audio - Criteria for the authentication of analog audio tape recordings
It was proposed to reaffirm this document as it is.
