Open Projects

AES-R3-R: Review of AES-R3-2001: TRS Connectors
No action required

AES14-R: Review of AES14-1992 (r1998): AES standard for professional audio equipment - Application of connectors, part 1, XLR-type polarity and gender
The IEC standard IEC 61076-2-103 has been published and should thus be cross-referenced.

AES26-R: Review of AES26-2001: AES recommended practice for professional audio - Conservation of the polarity of audio signals
No action required

AES45-R: Review of AES45-2001: AES standard for single programme connectors - Connectors for loudspeaker-level patch panels
No action required.

Development Projects

AES-X011: Fiber-Optic Audio Connections: Connectors and Cables Being Used and Considered for Audio
R Caine will write a project scope. The output document will be a 'catalogue' of fibre-optic connectors, from which other working groups can choose connectors for their purposes.

AES-X105: Modified XLR-3 Connector for Digital Audio
An SC-02-02 task group will send a rationale and questionnaire to users, to be published also in the Journal. An informative Annex will accompany the questionnaire, showing the drawings of the connectors as 'planned execution'. URGENT ACTION Woodgate: draft to small group (MN, RC, JB, MY) by 14 May, responses by 24 May, then to MY ASAP.

AES-X113: Universal female phone jack
Woodgate will send document "x-113Woodgate01-030524" to go to secretary as PWD, with TIFF graphics.

AES-X123: XL Connectors to Improve Electromagnetic Compatibility
Two documents are required: first a WD for the intended standard, covering the three types of improved connector:

  • Improved terminations of shields at radio frequencies;
  • Improved connections of shells of mating connectors;
  • Connectors with built-in low-pass filtering :
    1. for improving immunity;
    2. for reducing emissions;
    3. for both
The second document is a draft performance standard, with methods of measurement, which serves to evaluate propose solutions and may or may not result in a publication. Woodgate will prepare first drafts by 2004-09.

AES-X130: Data Connector in a XL Connector Shell
A Project Initiation is still required. ACTION: M. Natter to prepare a PIF for approval at SC-05 on Monday 10 May. Natter will the submit a draft document, preferably before 2004-10.
