Development Projects

AES-X98 Review of audio metadata
Descriptive metadata A descriptive metadata specification has been submitted to the secretariat for formatting. The document once formatted will be sent to the working group reflector for comment.

Administrative metadata. "Audio Object" metadata set has been renamed from "Core Audio" to eliminate confusion with Apple Computers audio API. Ackerman described the use of this metadata set as well as the Audio Processing History metadata set. Ackerman described two applications, developed at Harvard University's audio preservation studios, that create each respective type of audio metadata. It is the intention of Harvard to release beta copies of these applications to anyone reviewing these administrative metadata standards. It is anticipated that the standards draft documents will be updated to reflect relevant changes discovered during the development of these two applications. The updated documents will be forwarded to the secretariat for formatting in August, 2004.
