New Projects

With the completion of the revision of AES2 on drivers, two formerly passive projects on loudspeaker systems were re-activated:

AES-X194 Report on Loudspeaker Terminology
Chair Notes: AES-X194 should adopt terms from the IEC Electropedia & Glossary definitions, with specific additions where necessary for unambiguous clarity. For example, terms such as "loudspeaker" have been traditionally been used without qualification to mean both loudspeaker drivers AND loudspeaker systems, leading to significant confusion.

The IEC Electropedia and IEC glossary are openly accessible through the IEC web site at www.iec.ch - follow links for "Terminology".

AES-X168 Characterization of Loudspeaker Systems
Chair Notes; IEC 60268-5 covers both drivers & systems and includes some loudspeaker system characterization that may provide fundamentals for SC-04-03 to develop a defined scope for AES-X168.

J. Woodgate offered to organize a relevant draft by the end of week 20, 2013.

New Business:

There was no new business.

The next meeting will be held in conjunction with the AES 135th Convention in New York, NY., US., 17 to 20 October 2013
