Meeting Report of the SC-04-07 Working Group on Listening Tests of the SC-04 Subcommittee on Acoustics held in Berlin, Germany, on 2004-05-09
The meeting was convened by Chair D. Clark.
The report of the previous meeting and agenda for the present meeting were approved as written.
Open Projects
AES20-R: Review of AES20-1996 (r2002): AES recommended practice for professional audio - Subjective evaluation of loudspeakers
No action required at this time.
Development Projects
AES-X057: Subjective Evaluation of Vehicle Sound Reproduction Systems.
Clark reported that the Standards Manager had not yet compiled an information document from the three methods proposed by House, Sandrik and Clark by. M.Yonge found the documents too diffuse, in his opinion, to be formed into an information document [also, not all the material was available to complete this exercise]. Clark expressed his intention for SC 04-07 to abandon the project. Discussion ensued with the result that Yonge agreed to review the current three documents and the introduction. He expressed his thought that a forthcoming document would fit the purpose of a "report" rather than an "information document."
Current goal: Report before Fall AES Convention compiled.
AES-X104: Speech Intelligibility
This meeting will be reported separately by the SC-04-07-A Task Group leader, P. Mapp.
New Projects:
There was discussion about beginning a project on recommendations for listening tests of headphones. In the end it was decided that those who favored such a project should fill out the AESSC project request form and present it to the Standards Committee meeting on 10 May. If the project was approved and if assigned to SC-04-07, then we would begin on it.
All other discussion was deferred until the next meeting at the Fall AES Convention in San Francisco.
The meeting was terminated at approximately 12:00.
