[page updated 2008-05-07]
The following projects have been approved by subcommittees of the AESSC and assigned to Working Groups as shown. If you have an interest in helping to develop these standards projects, please go to the AES Standards Web site at www.aes.org/standards and click on "participation" to learn more. If you have information on other standards, or standards projects, with similar scopes to these projects, please contact the AES Standards Manager at:
Updates and revisions to project details will be shown in the status of AESSC projects.
- AES-X155 Production recording metadata set (iXML)
Initiated on 2008-05-02 by Subcommittee SC-03, and assigned to Working Group
SC-03-06
Scope:
to specify an XML-based metadata set to communicate file-based and project-based metadata between various stages of audio workflow in production, telecine, editorial, and post production. Production may include recordings made in studios and on location.
- AES-X162 Amendment to AES31-2, File-size extension using the "RF64" technique
Initiated on 2007-12-17 by Subcommittee SC-02, and assigned to Working Group
SC-02-08
Scope:
This amendment to AES31-2 provides a method of extending audio files beyond the limits set by the RIFF Wave format. It uses the "RF64" technique to permit 64-bit file addressing to accommodate longer recording times and multiple channels in a single file.
- AES-X172 Criteria for the authentication of digital audio recordings using an ENF methodology
Initiated on 2007-11-19 by Subcommittee SC-03, and assigned to Working Group
SC-03-12
Scope:
This report discusses the minimum procedure for the authentication of digital audio recordings intended to be offered as evidence or otherwise utilized in civil, criminal, or other fact-finding proceedings. This authentication is based on the analysis of low-level induced signals at electric-network frequency (ENF).
- AES-X180 Amendment 5 to AES3, extensions to status data
Initiated on 2007-10-27 by Subcommittee SC-02, and assigned to Working Group
SC-02-02
Scope:
This amendment adds a flag to indicate hidden data within a PCM signal, provides indications for two additional sampling frequencies, and clarifies the use of certain status bits when the signal is non-PCM.
- AES-X160 Powering and Analog Interface for Constant-Current Line Drive Transducers
Initiated on 2007-01-28 by Subcommittee SC-04, and assigned to Working Group
SC-04-04
Scope:
To define the powering parameters for constant current line drive (CCLD) transducers such as microphones, which may also be compliant with IEEE 1451.4.
- AES-X161 Digital interface for loudspeakers
Initiated on 2007-01-19 by Subcommittee SC-02, and assigned to Working Group
SC-02-02
Scope:
To identify the different circumstances in which digital loudspeakers are used, arrange them into groups with similar requirements, specify those requirements, and identify existing standards that would be appropriate. A follow-on project could then develop any new standards that are needed, based on the specified requirements.
