Neuman/Sennheiser's Digital Mic-over-Fiber System Demonstration

Chris Spar from Sennheiser/Neumann demonstrated a new digital mic-over-fiber system for a good turnout of AES members and student participants.  The system incorporates pieces of the Neumann DMI-8 , Ethersound, and the Youcan fiber system in one box.  This allows for incredibly long runs in both live sound and recording systems, control of each mic in the system (from pre levels to patterns, etc.), and a very low noise floor.

The majority of the Neumann and Senneiser digital mic catalogue was available at this event. The event was a great chance to pick Chris’s brain on Sennheiser/Neumann’s foray in to digital mics.
