Hello and welcome, audio students!  Whether you're new to the Audio Production program, a new M.F.A. candidate or a post-candidacy senior approaching graduation, there are many Audio Engineering Society benefits and events to help enhance your education and professional development.

If you're reading this on the aes.org site, then you may already know about the Society, member benefits and local events.  But just in case, here's a recap:

The Audio Engineering Society is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. Founded in the United States in 1948, the AES has grown to become an international organization that unites audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting advances in audio and disseminating new knowledge and research.

Currently, over 12,000 members are affiliated with more than 75 AES professional sections and more than 95 AES student sections around the world. Section activities may include guest speakers, technical tours, demonstrations and social functions. Through local AES section events, members experience valuable opportunities for professional networking and personal growth.

Again, AES promotes audio as a science and an art form and is a great way to network with professionals in the industry and fellow classmates. Our student chapter here at MTSU is an awesome way to get an inside scoop on developments in pro audio and the Recording Industry curriculum, especially if you’re a pre-candidacy student.

To learn more about the AES organization, check out the website at aes.org.
Also, here are links to additional pages regarding membership fees, how to join, and the Nashville and MTSU AES pages.  Be sure to check out the special benefits for student members, which include free and discounted software, hardware and services.

Here on campus, we are planning events that will also kickoff in early September.  Check this site and watch your MTSU email for details.
