Summary

The Associate Professor of Music Technology, Mark Ballora, presented some of his sonification work from his sabbatical in the Center for Network-Centric Cognition and Information Fusion in the IST department of Pennsylvania State University. During this event, he gave a detailed introduction on the field of sonification and presented his work of representing a sonification piece of our solar system. His representation of sounds were based on the resonant frequencies and spatial characteristics of each atmospheric entity and space, which, when combined together, created a harmonic track of audio. The talk was also given as a TED talk series which is hosted online under the category of sonification.
