Summary

At the beginning of the area recital, Dr. Rocky Reuter and Prof. Chad Loughrige spoke about the professional semester that junior level BA and BM Music Tech students are required to take. This includes and 8 week stay at The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH and an 8 week long (or longer) internship that the student must seek out on their own (or with the help of their peers that have been through it or their professors). Dr. Reuter also touched on advising issues for next semester, such as setting up the students schedule for the next semester.

Dr. Reuter then introduced The Lenner Hall Recording Studio (Studio E). Chad then showed a video, shot and edited by Capital University students, about the evolution of designing, building, wiring, constructing, painting, and installing all of the equipment into the new studio. The video also contained original music, We're in Space, by senior level BA Music Tech Student, Ben Roehletter. Dr. Reuter touched on issues that could not be solved in the recording studio, such as the sound seeping in from the upstairs classrooms do to the fact that the beams that structurally support the upstairs rooms could not support the weight of a reinforced ceiling.

As a whole, we recognized Prof. Ray Eubanks because without him our Music Technology, Music Industry, and Music Business programs would not exist, nor would our Jazz Studies Program that he implemented at Capital University in 1975. He founded and ran The Columbus Jazz Arts Group in 1972 and led The Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) for over 30 years. Without Prof. Ray Eubanks, nearly 177 students would not be studying Music Technology, here at Capital University.

Prof. Eubanks then took the mic himself and spoke to the Music Technology students about his journey working within The Capital University Conservatory of Music. He wanted to remind the students that, "you cannot do this alone, you will need help". He spoke about how grateful and blessed he feels for being able to work in this field for so long and for being able to do something that he loves for so long. "We knew it had to happen someplace. Why not here?"

Ray was presented a plaque for dedicating Studio E to him for his 40 great years of service.
