Ken Platz, the acoustic director of Shure Incorporated, started our meeting with a powerpoint presentation on an introduction of Shure. This presentation included the history of the company and its innovations, information about their Chicago division of the company, and future applications of their products. The main topic in his presentation was the shift from analog to digital wireless devices within microphones and feedback systems. After his presentation, Todd Marco gave a second presentation focusing on both the books and classes at Penn State that were important to him within his career as well as an introduction to RF wireless systems. He took a block diagram approach to explaining the details of transmission and receiving diagrams, the concepts of compounding, pre/de-emphasis, and deviation.
