Summary

Humber Jazz instructors Ian Terry and Steve Bellamy took us on a tour of Humber College's new recording facilities. The studio was designed to create an excellent studio environment for musicians in the program to familiarize themselves with the recording process. Our speakers underlined that they are not intending to train recording engineers, but rather to improve the production and performance skills of their graduates in studio settings.

The main studio features an SSL Duality console, and a remarkable sounding live floor. A secondary teaching studio has a new API analog console as well as a Digidesign control surface. The construction was explained both verbally and with a slideshow.
