Summary

CRAS AES Chair Peter G. opened the meeting with introductions and favorite poet or lyricist, as well as introductions of the subgroup leaders and the subgroups. We then had a short Mentor Team Update: Early bird review sessions will be held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7am-9am at the Gilbert campus. Peter then went into an introduction what AES is and the benefits of membership, as well as how to become an Officer (Meetings are held week one Tuesdays). Peter then launched into some updates from the last week. The prize for the mixing contest will be Engineer Credits, and Audio Technica Microphone, and a CRAS hoodie. Last Thursday marek stycos visited the Gilbert campus to do a sonic demonstration and gear showcase, as well as a Thai Food feast. Last Saturday was the Austin Ribbon Mic Build, as well as having David Royer in the studio testing prototype microphones with session musicians. Students built their own ribbon microphones from scratch, and David Royer showed off some of his work. For upcoming events, on September 19th we have CRAS grad Justin Taft here for a Showboss A/V LED Demo; Justin will be setting up a video wall in live sound. On October 10th & 17th, there is a 2 part mix clinic- space is limited so check cras connect for updates. On October 24th Forensic Audio Specialist Bryan Neumeister will be visiting CRAS to host an event and talk to the students about advancements in the field of Forensic Audio. October 31st we will be having a sound design contest for best monster noise!  We then had a 10-minute subgroup breakout. We then ended with a trivia quiz for candy prizes.
