Summary
Some members of the local AES student chapter gave a short presentation on basic recording techniques to local high school students that were interested in recording demo tapes for post-secondary applications. The hour long presentation focused on how to get the best recordings out of the equipment available to them (ex. cell phones, small cameras), how to place the microphone properly for recording brass instruments, and what inexpensive equipment they can buy or rent to further improve their demo tape recordings. The high school students were highly engaged in the presentation and were eager to ask questions about how they could make the best of their recordings.
