Updates to Future Events
07/23/18 - CRAS AES Lauten Audio Mixing Contest- CRAS AES presents a mix contest for all students! CRAS Grad and 7-time Grammy Award winning engineer Darrell Thorp and the band The Visual have offered students a chance to mix a song off The Visual's forthcoming untitled album. A panel of CRAS instructors will choose the top 10 mixes for Mr. Thorp and The Visual to choose from. The chosen winner will receive a Lauten Audio LA-320 Vacuum Tube Condenser Microphone, courtesy of Lauten Audio. Mixes must be submitted by Friday August 31st. May the best mix win!
07/26/18 - Useful Arts w/ Peter Swann - As audio professionals, we have all dealt with outboard gear at some time or another to create the sound we wanted. Join us with Useful Art's own Peter Swann to learn new approaches to recording and how it led to the creation of Useful Arts gear, the design philosophies and science underlying the gear, and some advice about getting into studio gear yourself. There will be a Q & A at the end of the event.
08/02/18 - SNEAKY BIG Tour For AM Students- Students will be touring SNEAKY BIG Studios to gain a first hand insight into cutting-edge technology in video and audio production and post production in Scottsdale, AZ.
08/02/18 - Keith Morris Power Hour - Listen, as Keith takes examples from his career, of nearly 4 decades, to show students how he overcame barriers and found success. Learn how to build confidence in your skill sets and how to present yourself to future clients. All students are encouraged to attend!
08/07/18 - Rode Microphones -Rode Microphones is visiting CRAS! They will be hosting a demo session to allow students the opportunity of viewing a portion of their product line and test some of the great microphones Rode has to offer!
08/09/18 - Soldering Clinic w/ James Bender - Join James Bender and CRAS AES for a full study of how you can become a better solderer!
08/16/18 - Microphone Shootout - Join CRAS AES in the studio as we compare and test different combinations of microphones and gear on drums, guitars, vocals, and much more! What sound will we get? What will our experiments unveil? Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments and microphones.
08/23/18 - Impulse Response Clinic w/ Mark Brisbane- Technology has had a tremendous impact on the audio world, and a unique form of this technology has been Impulse Responses. CRAS AES invites all students to join Mark Brisbane as he teaches not only what an impulse response is, but also how students can create and use them for their own productions!
08/30/18 - Spring Reverb Build - It's here it's here it's here! After regular request, CRAS AES presents students the opportunity to build their very own Spring Reverb units. Students will be able to use their unit as outboard gear in his or her productions. Each kit will cost $50.
09/13/18 - Home Studio Success Panel w/ James Linton
Our guest speaker, James Linton, is a successful Arizona based Home Studio Owner, Producer, Mix and Mastering Engineer. He currently works under his company SoundWaves Productions and will be speaking on entrepreneurship and home studio production. If you're planning on building your own home studio or becoming a freelancer, we recommend your attendance.
