Atthis event, AES engineers had the unique opportunity to network and offer advice with other music students from the Jacobs School of Music. These talented musicians, lacking the technical training of our engineers, were curious about how to "Improve theirSound" using the gear they already had. Some of the key topics covered included proper microphone placement and stereo recorder use, proper file management, and what scenarios call for the help of a professional engineer. AES board members called upon their personal experiences to offer advice tailored to specific instruments, including piano, percussion, voice, and even pipe organ. A recording demonstration using a Zoom H4n on a piano at various distances also occurred. In all, it was a very educational experience for all who attended, and was a great way to share our resources! A follow up to this event will occur in the Fall of 2018.
