Summary

The CRASS AES Student Summit in Saint Louis was a weekend filled with workshops, discussions, and demonstrations given by dozens of people who all share the same passion for professional audio. Students were given the opportunity to attend a "speed networking" event, which was similar to speed dating, but with professionals in the audio industry to give out advice! Each student had around 5-7 minutes with the professional (many of which were Grammy winners), providing great networking practice and a chance to present yourself as a service provider. Other events one could attend ranged from seminars on basic miking techniques to production advice, multiple panels dedicated to career advice, and allotted time for just telling stories. Throughout this summit, students met countless award-winning engineers and producers. One of our students started to notice a common attribute between them all: these incredibly successful people never stopped working hard, and NEVER stopped pushing the boundaries. They are always trying to improve. They can even be observed taking notes from each other! During a panel geared towards producers, Matt Ross-Spang was asked which project he is most proud of. His answer was simply, "I get to make records every day." We believe this sort of passion that makes great creators.

Thank you to Webster University for hosting this event!
