On April 14, 2016, the San Francisco AES section partnered with Real Industry, for their Real Industry Live! Silicon Valley event and mixer, following an afternoon of workshops for students to help them achieve a realistic understanding of the work environment.
Real Industry is a non-profit organization run by Executive Director and AES San Francisco member Jay LeBoef, to help bridge the gap between academia and industry, with education, events, and mentoring. They offer online and university courses, career workshops, networking events, and individual mentorship.
AES President John Krivit was one of dozens of AES members attending, along over 150 students, educators and industry professionals who mixed through the evening, helping develop mentoring relationships. Real Industry plans to continue their series of workshops and events, bringing it to the 141st convention in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 29th, with a mixer that evening.
