Summary

Presentation by Steve Johnston: strange history here at WHA ?, built for both live/rough and ready production and carefully crafted content. It all started in 1914 when UW Physics Professor Earl Terry applied for a license to broadcast on a personal wireless transmitter (Bertha). The Commerce Dept assigned him the call letters 9XM. WHA are the post WWII call letters.

Back then, it had a further range than it does now, despite technological advancements. Too much interference.

Parallel station is run by the state, Agriculture Dept. WI Education Comm. Board. Auberdale, WLBL. Ideas Network News and Classical and All classical.

Two facets - Running program and Care of the systems..

Operations Engineers — organize and gather and archive
Broadcast Engineering — maintain repair/build equipment
Recording Engineers- operate the equipment

Air studio is hooked up one way for good
Allen Reilland — previous director of engineering.


Xmas tree terminal block — solder to
Isolated floors, pipes and heating system obstruction to pure recording , too many windows,.

Board is a Yamaha 02 R digi from 96. .
Shure KSMs — more forgiving
Monitors were all homemade
