Summary

Last night CRAS students had the chance to take part in an Internship Bootcamp that was hosted by the CRAS Internship Department and presented by our student chapter of AES.

Students were broken into two teams and had to complete 4 different timed tasks. They were given 15 minutes at each stop at the end of which they were graded. The winning team was announced at the end of the event.

First, students had to get a Live Sound show ready to go. CRAS Instructor Mike King was in charge of the show and the students had to set it up according to his instructions.

Students then had to do one on one interviews with CRAS Internship Coordinator Rachel Ludeman. The remain students of the team had to search the internet for a very detailed and specific list of requests provided by a client. There goal was to split up the list, get the information needed and then combine it back into one document to be presented to Rachel at the end of their time.

After competing the manager station students had to get a session set up in Studio B with CRAS Instructor David Kohr. They had 15 minutes to get the session set up, mic's checked and signal into pro tools. After they got signal they had to tear it all down and pack it up nicely.

Finally, students got a taste of what being an intern in a studio's kitchen is like. They had to go around the campus to get food orders from students and staff. They had a menu that they presented to us and we made our selections from there. No request was too wacky! Whether it was scraping the cream out of oreo cookies, mashing up bananas or scraping the bbq off of bbq chips, both teams did a excellent job preparing the orders!
