Summary

Jared kicked off our meeting with a brief description of his background. He graduated in 2006 and headed out to L.A. The only way that he figured out how to survive was moving in with half of his class. Jared went into post production and ended up working on a few ABC shows like Desperate Housewives and quickly realized that in order to grow within the company he needed to make himself stick out. As a better opportunity arose in the technical side he didn't even think twice. This is where he picked up most of his knowledge on video. The company he was working for ended up downsizing and laying him off.
Luckily Jared had a plan B in mind.

While he was freelancing building studios he ran into his soon to be business partner who had the same idea in mind. As the two started talking about their work, they decided to start their own company. They kicked it off with intriguing sales pitches that included something a lot of companies weren't offering at the time as a whole. These included: custom cabling, equipment sales, acoustic design/installation, power system design, consulting services, setting up 96 point patch bay systems, and anything else that you can possibly imagine that someone might need when building a studio. If a client needs a custom cable for their custom studio they can't just find them at any local instrument store. As the questions arose about gear, Jared took notice and decided to start selling the gear his self. Jared took note that nowadays most folks are looking for modular studios where you can build them up and take them down when you move and bring them with you. As far as their consulting services go, it reaches far beyond just gear troubleshooting. They dig in deep and really try and help out the client in configuring the future of their studio plans and helping them achieve those goals.

At the end of the meeting, Jared hosted a Q&A where we got all of our questions answered. To those of us who were interested in heading out to L.A. we left a lot less concerned about the over saturation of engineers after speaking with Jared. It was a pleasure having him here at the Conservatory and we all look forward to keeping in touch.
