Meeting Topic: Class D Amplifier Technology
Speaker Name: Todd Marco, current EE grad student and former PSU AES Chair
Meeting Location: State College, PA, USA
Todd Marco, current EE grad student and former PSU AES Chair, presented his recent work on Class D switching amplifiers. The talk was adapted from his M.S. Paper entitled "A Comprehensive Study of Class D Amplifier Technology." Fundamentals of Class D operation and design were discussed, and major technical aspects were addressed. Modulation schemes were covered in detail, focusing mostly on PWM methods. Topologies & output stage were discussed, as well as the main performance characteristics of efficiency, distortion, and EMI. The presentation then concluded with questions and discussion.
