Summary
Telefunken came to UMass Lowell to run an all Telefunken microphone session with local UML band Whiskey James. The students together took the microphones and set them up around the drum kit, guitar and bass amps, and critically listened to the differences between each microphone, and how each one would fit into the mix. Towards the middle of the session the students were able to see the circuits of the microphones, with a basic understanding of tubes, as well as an in depth history of the Telefunken brand name.
Later overdubs were made with Whiskey James vocalist, Peter Forbes, so each student could critically hear the differences between the C12, ELAM 251, U47, and M260 and how each one relates to voice.
