Summary

Today we had a dual meeting starting with our day time Grad Panel at which we
had the whole school in attendance. The grad panel featured Teddy Salas (Independent
post production sound supervisor), Joe Jensen (South Central audio visual and Allied
Sound), Maggie O'Brien (Production and Operations manager for Blue Microphones),
David Davis (East-West Engineer). Each grad shared their experiences, what they do,
and how CRAS has had an impact on their successes.
The Grad's left us with advice from their own experiences within their time in the
industry. Some advice for our resume's was to include knowing signal flow and gear we
know how to use. Also that budgeting is hard to do and you will struggle. Understanding
that you should and will most likely need a part time job, but on the other hand some
internships might not let you be able to is important. Some of the things they are looking
for in an intern: attitude, work ethic, knowing your place as an intern, teamwork,
organization and documentation, availability. Most common mistakes of an intern: Food
orders (if they want you to correct mistake do it immediately), foul language, bad
attitudes, laziness, no documentation, getting to comfortable, and lies about something
you don't know. More advice was don't consider networking, networking cause it comes
off as weird and awkward. After hearing their stories we had a Q&A.
At our usual night meeting Teddy Salas was in Studio D. He has been in post
production and showed us how he mixes movies, commercials, and other things for
post. He gave everyone tips and answered questions throughout and after his
presentation.
