Summary

Today is day 1 of 8 of our 2014 PRG experience. CRAS students were given the opportunity to put together an event in the live sound room at CRAS Gilbert Campus with PRG. PRG was founded in 1982 by Jere Harris. PRG is now the worlds leading supplier of event technology products and offers rental services, assistance with audio, video, and lighting installations.
On day 1 of the PRG set up, 41 CRAS students got together with PRG operations manager, Adam Parrish, and assistant manager, Jesika Graf, in the live sound room at CRAS. Students had the opportunity to help unload 1.7 million dollars worth of equipment from a truck and load it all into the live sound room at CRAS. The students were split into 4 groups and were in charge of unloading the equipment from color coded crates and setting them up in their general area of the pre made layout. After unloading the equipment, we learned how to stack and place the equipment in the proper area and hook everything up. We set up monitors, mounts, cameras, video monitors, lights, and line arrays. Half way through the day, we were treated with pizza and drinks. We got to take a breather and relax before continuing our hard work. By the end of the day, our typical live sound room looked completely different. The number of speakers multiplied and the room size divided in half. Video monitors took up half the space and different colored lights brightened the room. It was like seeing CRAS for the first time.
