Virtual auditory displays aim at creating virtual auditory scenes when listening to sounds via headphones. Head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) represent a key technology for accurate virtual auditory displays. In this talk, Bosun Xie will present the research progress on virtual auditory displays and HRTFs in China.
Bosun Xie was born in Guangzhou, China, in 1960. He graduated in acoustics at South China University of Technology and in 1998, he received a PhD in acoustics at Tongji University. Since 1982, he has been working at South China University, is currently the leader of Acoustic Lab and a professor at School of Science, and a fellow and standing committee member of Acoustical Society of China. His research area covers psychoacoustics, room acoustics, and acoustic signal processing.
