On October 16, as part of the San Buenaventura's University, Bogotá, 2nd IEEE Engineering Symposium, and in collaboration with AES Colombia, was held the 'Production and mixing vocal ensembles' speech in San Francisco de Asis auditorium. Offered by Juan Sebastian Bastos, Tambora Records resident engineer, who shared his experience through the years working with Colombian vocal ensemble N-Voz . With him, the musician Carlos Gomez, a member of the group, offered attendees his perspective as a performer and emphasized the importance of a sound engineer in the good performance of an unconventional musical ensemble, both live and recording studio.
Bastos commented about the importance of reinventing concepts when facing challenges for which there isn't a known background and how in this way it can really get close to capturing the essence of the instrument. Sponsored by Colombian distributor Retro Knob, an Universal Audio Apollo Quad interface and a Dangerous Music 2 -Bus LT summing box were used by the lecturer to explain all processes used while mixing the group's single "Te Vengo a Cantar", recorded mostly by Sound Engineering students at the University. As he explained, the participants asked variety of questions about the approaches used to treat this song, to which the engineer responded carefully.
